The Center for Great Plains Studies and Great Plains Art Museum hosts a variety of events during the year including the Paul A. Olson Great Plains Talks and an annual interdisciplinary conference.

Great Plains Conference

The Center for Great Plains Studies crafts an interdisciplinary conference yearly. Past conference themes include environment and culture, ethnicity, literature, art, Indigenous health, climate change, bison, religion, migration, homesteading, and Lewis and Clark. Papers presented at the conference often are published in the Center's scholarly journals. Often, the conference includes workshops, experiences, and tours like the above Indigenous Lincoln tour.

Paul A. Olson Great Plains Talks

These talks offer an opportunity for interested scholars, students and members of the community at attend presentations on various topics related to the Great Plains. The seminars are named for Paul A. Olson, the first director of the Center for Great Plains Studies, who instituted and moderated the seminars starting in 1979. The talks, offered several times a semester during the academic year, are free and open to the public.
