Drum-making workshop: Crete Carrier Lodge, open to the public
Francis “Rock” Pipestem’s drum-making inspiration comes from his Osage and Otoe-Missouria people’s ceremonies and traditions. His father, F. Browning Pipestem Sr., taught him how to make traditional drums. Through his father’s teachings and Pipestem’s innovations, he has had the honor of restoring the sacred drums of the Grayhorse and Hominy In-Lon-Schka and the Kiowa Black Leggings Society. Open to all; no registration required.
Otoe-Missouria floral applique workshop with Nyi K’omi (Kennetha Greenwood): Peter Kiewit Lodge, tribal members only
Being a woodlands tribe, floral designs are an essential part of Otoe-Missouria culture. They were incorporated in everything from clothing to utilitarian and ceremonial items. Nyi K'omi (Kennetha Greenwood) will be sharing her knowledge of the Otoe-Missouria tribe's floral work, what they mean to our people, how we created them, and how they have evolved in a contemporary light that continues to ground us in our ancestral homeland today. During this demonstration you will create your own floral design from fresh flowers as inspiration to create a pattern that you will cutout and paste on colorful card stock in the same fashion you would see on traditional Otoe-Missouria clothing. Meet on the 2nd Floor, Peter Kiewit Lodge. Only 20 spaces available; must be 18 or older. FULL
Native plant workshop with Tyler LaMere, Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska: Peter Kiewit Lodge, tribal members only

FAQ
Where will tribal members be staying?
We have reserved family-style cabins at Mahoney State Park as well as hotel-style rooms in the Peter Kiewit Lodge for elders and/or individuals needing accessibility accommodations. Cabins sleep 2-6 people and have a kitchen. Lodge rooms are basically hotel rooms inside a large lodge building that has a restaurant. Both locations have ample parking. Check into your lodging at the Peter Kiewit Lodge. There is a grocery store and gas stations nearby in Ashland, Neb.
Where are the events?
Most of the events will take place in the Crete Carrier Riverview Lodge at Mahoney State Park. Two workshops for Tribal members will take place at the Pieter Kiewit Lodge. The art reception on Sept. 19 is at the Great Plains Art Museum in Lincoln.
Parking
It may take some time to find parking on Friday evening, due to a home football game the next day. We recommend parking at the Que Place Parking Garage, located at 1111 Q St, Lincoln, NE 68508. This garage is attached to the Great Plains Art Museum. The first hour is free. Other nearby garages are Rampark Garage located at 1225 P St, Lincoln, NE 68508 and the Larson Garage at 1317 Q Street, Lincoln 68508. On-street, metered parking is also available in downtown Lincoln but is often hard to find. Look for spaces near the Great Plains Art Museum on 12th and Q streets.
State Park entry
You are required to display a state park pass while at Mahoney State Park. Day passes are $7 for Nebraska state residents. Otoe-Missouria tribal members should tell the gate attendant that they are with the Tribe (the project will cover your entry fee).
